General Information

A tax foreclosure sale is the sale of foreclosed property by the Kenai Peninsula Borough at a public outcry auction.

Excess proceeds from the sale of tax-foreclosed property are defined as any amount exceeding the total of unpaid and delinquent taxes, penalty, interest, and costs.

Pursuant to AS 29.45.480, excess proceeds can be claimed by the former owner of the property. All claims must be in writing on a completed Claim Form and received no later than six months after the date of the tax foreclosure auction. Following the expiration of the claiming period, the valid claims will be processed and funds disbursed. If there are multiple owners and more than one of the owners files a claim, evidence of the extent of ownership will be required or the funds will be disbursed equally to all claimants.

In the event the prior owner of record is deceased, a copy of the letters of administration required by AS 13.16.015 must accompany the claim form.

To submit a claim form, it must be mailed to the following address and be received by Kenai Peninsula Borough on or before the claim deadline:

Kenai Peninsula Borough
Attn: Delinquent Accounts
PO Box 3040
Soldotna, AK 99669
